"We could not have delivered the Travel Project without Rawson Consulting."
"We could not have delivered the Travel Project without Rawson Consulting. Rawson Consulting’s Director, Nigel Rawson and I worked together on this really successful project. Nigel delivers 100 percent effort to the work, manages timeframes and deliverables expertly and on time. Better still there are never any surprises. He has great time management skills, is skilled at managing stakeholders and dealing with any issues that arise. You'd be lucky to have Nigel leading a project for you and I highly recommend him for anyone looking for a 100% safe pair of hands to deliver an important project."
National Business Services Manager
Outline
Our client is dedicated to lessening its environmental impact through the reduction of its carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, a commitment grounded in evidence-based decision-making and insights. The data and evidence collected not only guide immediate actions for our client, but also inform decisions regarding long-term investments.
The engagement
Rawson Consulting was tasked by the Board with reviewing our client's travel processes and expenditures. The primary objective of this initiative was to decrease the client’s carbon emissions, minimise unproductive travel time, and lower their overall travel expenses.
What we delivered
The review identified a range of issues and recommended seven processes, structure, and technology improvements which were approved by the Board. These improvements included:
-
Establishing a dedicated Travel Office, initially based at the National Headquarters (NHQ) as a pilot program, before expanding its operations nationwide.
-
Implementing a sophisticated MS SharePoint platform equipped with streamlined workflows, specifically designed to oversee and manage the internal travel booking process efficiently.
-
Enhancing the functionality and capabilities of the travel management company's booking tool, Zeno, to ensure smoother and more efficient travel planning and coordination.
-
A revised travel policy to better align with organisational goals to improve efficiency, and
-
Developing new data-driven reporting systems for the executive leadership team and budget holders.
Benefits delivered
Following approval, we crafted a business case and project planning materials to kickstart the initiative, steering the project alongside a diverse team of experts. From there, we successfully unveiled the culmination of our efforts, delivering the final improvement initiative.
The project yielded remarkable benefits for the organisation, including over $6.5 million in cost savings. Moreover, it resulted in the conservation of 2 million carbon kilograms, equating to the preservation of over 100,000 ten-year-old trees and the saving of over 28,000 productivity hours.
